Avery's smile

Avery got her palatal expander on in December 2013.  She went through a lot of pain as we
"turned the key" for months, then wore a headgear.   Last week she completed phase I of her orthodontic treatment.  Because she was born with third degree bilateral cleft lip and palate, she is missing two teeth.
Some orthodontists will not see cleft patients at all.  We had the huge blessing of discovering that a friend of mine from high school is a cleft palate orthodontic genius!
I just knew we were in for jaw surgery, and implants when Avery got older.  It seems that none of that will be necessary now!  I am amazed at the change, just after phase I.    Avery will begin phase II in November.
After several major surgeries, and over 20 sets of ear tube surgeries, hopefully all we have left is one or two nose and lip revisions!
Four kids in braces in the last 18 months, two more to go!
