(The other) House progress

is soooo slow!

The day we worked this week, I spent in closets.  Not very exciting, at the end of the day, to see no results.  But, closets must be painted too.
This is the bedroom that goes with the closet.  The color is a soft, soothing, pale blue, although it looks gray here, still have to paint trim.  My aunt gave me some fabric that has the exact color in it, I will be making curtains, someday.
When we started this "project", we were going to do all neutral colors.  Kristen wanted something purplish.  I said no way, until we came across Sherwin Williams lavender paint for $3.  So lavender it is.  I got the mint green Pottery Barn curtains at a thrift store for $5.  Don't the smooth ceilings look marvelous ....my house is next!  The new light fixture was put up after this pic.  This room is the only one that is 100% totally done.
Along with hanging some new light fixtures, and changing out plugs and light switches, DH's job today was to scrape the den ceiling.  Do you see over the fireplace, where the pictures were hanging?  And this is AFTER I mopped the walls with vinegar water.  We installed the French doors where a solid single door was.  In this picture DH is painting (the floor) himself out the door.  We got a 5 gallon bucket of satin paint for $30.  We painted all the floors before the carpet went in, to seal the odors.  This den will get laminate flooring.
The foyer/stairwell is beige, trim, handrails and door still has to be painted.  That light fixture was purchased at a yard sale, and spray painted.
.Next week, DH will get the LAST of the popcorn ceiling down- in the kitchen, and prep more walls to paint.  I will be painting trim from here to eternity.  The house is 25 years old, and much of the trim has the original paint---gross!  In  few weeks, the exterior will be getting paint, new windows, gutters, and a roof!  Things are looking better, ever so slowly.
