Waid's diagnosis--partially

On Thursday, Waid saw 3 different Dr's at Univ of Alabama eyecare.  They ran some tests, did exams, and here is what we DO know:  He has
1.  Cataracts in both eyes.
2.  Nystagmus-involuntary eye movement, they constantly twitch back and forth, this greatly affects vision and depth perception
3.  Anaridia-absence of the iris. All of the color in his eyes is the pupil!  And it basically stays dialated, it is amazing he is not more sensative to light.
The Anaridia is the major concern at the moment.  It is not just an isolated defect, it is most likely part of a syndrome, three possible syndromes from what I understand.  One of the syndromes includes cancerous tumors on the kidneys.  -gasp--
We have an appt with another specialist on Wed.  Depending on what he says, we could be headed for kidney testing and genetic testing to determine exactly what syndrome he has--if any.
We will definately keep you posted, your prayers are much appreciated.
